Holden EFIJY Concept

From Oct. 22-24, expect to see Holden's 21st century hot rod concept, EFIJY, headline a gathering of the world's most beautiful cars in Melbourne. The EFIJY will be shown at Motorclassica, Australia's first International Concours d'Elegance and Classic Motorshow at the world heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Buildings in Carlton Gardens. The EFIJY was first launched at the Sydney Motor Show in 2005 and it features V8 Supercar power under the bonnet, a Chevrolet Corvette underbody and state-of-the-art automotive technology. The EFIJY’s curvaceous 5.2-meter body, which reinterprets the classic design cues of the iconic 1953 FJ Holden, was given some fancy 'Soprano Purple' paintwork.

The EFIJY is powered by a 480-kilowatt, supercharged six-liter V8 engine, air-adjustable shock absorbers, touch control LCD screen and fan-cooled LED headlamps. According to Holden Chief Designer and EFIJY creator Richard Ferlazzo, the company was honored for the inclusion of the Australian concept vehicle in the prestigious event.

Ferlazzo said that the EFIJY, being displayed in its home city “among some of the world's most stunning cars,” will “evoke different memories for everyone who sees it throughout the event." He believes that people may be looking into the FJ links, the custom coupes of the 1930s or the design flair of the 1950s. The EFIJY concept car has received worldwide recognition including the title of 2007 North American Concept Car of the Year by South East Automotive Media Organization (SEAMO).
